TIDM-02008: Review of Transfer Function and Bode Plot

Part Number: TIDM-02008
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SFRA

Tool/software:

Hello Sir,

We have calculated the transfer function for the Totem-Pole PFC using the 3.3 kW charger reference design through state-space analysis. Based on this, we have also designed the compensator and generated the corresponding Bode plots.

I generated the Bode response using both MATLAB and an online tool available via Google. However, I observed a discrepancy in the phase plots between the two. Additionally, the phase plot obtained from our compensator design appears different from the expected or ideal result. I have also added a Type II compensator to the plant.

We would sincerely appreciate your help in:

  • Verifying the steps we followed in calculating the transfer function,

  • Reviewing the Bode plot and compensator design, and

  • Helping us understand the cause of the differences observed.

If possible, it would be a great help if you could share any relevant video tutorials related to Bode plot analysis and compensator design using MATLAB.

First 3 images are the calculation of Transfer Function for Totem pole.

Then after bode plot obtained by MATLAB

And Last one is bode plot obtained by online google software.

Last image is bode plot of the system after compensator design.

  • Hi Anurag,

I may not able to comment on your design steps. But in general we would follow the standard simulation tools such as MATLAB for Bode analysis. I can't think of any standard videos to design compensator using MATLAB.

I would also suggest to try our SFRA and compensator design tools mentioned in the user guide.

    Thanks

    Srikanth
