LAUNCHXL-F28069M: BOOSTTXL-DRV8301

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301, LAUNCHXL-F28027F, DRV8323, BOOSTXL-DRV8301

Tool/software:

Which controller board is suitable for the DRV8301. I see LaunchXL-F28027F and LAUNCHXL-F28069M both on the TI website. Which one is better? Do they both have the same performance?

  • Apologies for the delay in response, I was discussing further internally.

First, I wanted to note that the DRV8301 and both F28x devices listed are all prev. gen devices. The DRV8323 is both smaller and less expensive, and is also supported by more recent and higher performance C2000 devices, such as the F2800137.

If you are restricted to using the listed devices, the F2806x is generally higher performance.

  • Actually first I just want to evalutate the Instaspin FOC with our  BLDC as I have a very low inductance motor which is not easy to control.

At TI website I see that the BOOSTXL-DRV8301 uses LAUNCHXL-F28027F or  LAUNCHXL-F28069M. My question is what is difference between the two microcontroller evaluation boards which use the BOOSTXL-DRV8301.

What is the performace difference between the two microcntorller evaluation boards used with the BOOSTXL-DRV8301.

  • If you are restricted to using the F28027F and the F28069M, the F2806x is generally higher performance. Additionally, the -F and -M suffix refers to InstaSPIN-FOC and InstaSPIN-MOTION. InstaSPIN-MOTION is identical to InstaSPIN-FOC, but with additional functionalities documented in the InstaSPIN User's Guide.
