TMS320F2808: Creating a new application for F2808 microcontroller

Part Number: TMS320F2808
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE, CONTROLSUITE

Tool/software:

We have an old board with TMS320F2808 microcontroller, and I want to program it with some sample application to verify the ports and peripherals. I am unable to find the specific CCS version and C2000Ware version to establish an empty project with some pin configuration and ports set up. Can someone help me on this? I need to create an empty project first with some pins set up and flash it with XDS110 debugger.

  • Hi Aashik,

We no longer maintain active software support for this device I would recommend switching to the https://www.ti.com/product/TMS320F280049  it is the latest the latest 100-MHz and 100-pin series from C2000 real-time controllers. Let me know if there are hesitations.

controlSUITE has the legacy software for the F2808 device. But please note it is no longer being maintained.

  • Hi Ozino,

I know you don't currently support it. But I want to know which IDE version will support F2808. We are redesigning our board with F28650DK6 chip. But to do so, we need to understand how our current board works, and since it's old, we don't have the source code, etc. So we want to prove it in existing hardware before we design our new one. So I need some IDE where I can build it and test it on our old hardware.
I did search in Control Suite, and I didn't find any reference to F2808.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Aashik,

Thank you for the additional information. I understand you request. My apologies I didn't realize the device_support for this device is not included. Here's the link to the download for the software package.

It looks like CCSv5 is the IDE support the examples were released with. Here's the link to download the older versions of the IDE.

    Hope this resolves your request.
