TMS320F28P659DK-Q1: Discrepancy in MCAN Register Offsets Between TRM and C2000Ware Library

Part Number: TMS320F28P659DK-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE, TMDSCNCD28P65X

Tool/software:

Dear Experts,

I noticed that the register address offsets for MCAN are inconsistent between the TRM and the C2000Ware library (hw_mcanss.h, version 5.04 that I'm using). Based on my experiments, the definitions in the library appear to be correct, while the offset values in the TRM seem to be half of those defined in the library.

I would like to confirm with TI whether this is a typo in the TRM regarding the offset values.

Thanks and Regards,

CC

  • Hi CC,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. To properly assist you, I'll need the following information:

    1. The specific device model number you're working with
    2. The TRM (Technical Reference Manual) Document Literature number and revision

After reviewing your query, I noticed a potential discrepancy: it appears the (x16) and (x8) offset values may have been transposed. Specifically:
    - The header files are showing the 8-bit access offset
    - The screenshot you provided displays the 16-bit access offset

This mismatch could be the source of confusion. Once you provide the device details and TRM reference, I can verify the correct offset values and help resolve this issue.

Please provide these details so we can give you a more accurate response.

  • Hello Zackary,

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm using the evaluation board TMDSCNCD28P65X (F28P65X controlCARD evaluation module). Please refer to the TI website for more details:
    https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSCNCD28P65X

    The TRM I'm referencing is:
Literature Number: SPRUIZ1B, JULY 2023 – REVISED AUGUST 2024, which is the latest version available for download from the TI website (https://www.ti.com/product/TMS320F28P659DK-Q1).

    Regards,

  • Hi CC,

Thanks for providing this information. This does look to be an issue with the TRM documentation. I will file a ticket to ensure this issue is addressed in the next release. Please refer to the header file data in the meantime.

    Best Regards,
