TMS320F2800157: Question regarding TRM Note: SCI Module Interrupt Reaction Time

Part Number: TMS320F2800157

Tool/software:

Hi C2000 Team,

I have a customer evaluating the TMS320F280015x for a new design and we have a question regarding page 2092 of the TRM (SPRUIY4B).

Does the SCI Module Interrupt Reaction Time note only pertain to TMS320F280015x devices?

If so, is there something specific to the TMS320F280015x that causes it?

If not, what other MCUs are affected by it?

-Matt Calvo

  • Hi Matt,

One initial note: the SCI module on this device is the same across TI C2000 MCUs. For reference, you can determine this by checking out our C2000 Peripheral User's Guide which tells you what 'type' of each peripheral is present on the device (as well as in the opposite context: which devices have which 'type' of peripheral).

To answer your question, this note does not apply and is actually in the process of being removed from all the TRMs. The reason this note may be present in one device TRM and not another is because the TRMs refreshes are not in sync - the change will be applied when each TRM has a new revision released. So unfortunately, it cannot be instantaneous. In essence, the timing note does not apply. Hope this clears things up!

  • Hi Allison,

Thank you for the detailed reply! I'll pass this along to my customer and will have them comment back on this thread with any follow-up questions they may have.

  • This helps. Thank you. I did find it odd that the TMS320F280015x had this note but all other C2000s with the same SCI did not. If all C2000s have the same SCI (type 0) what product was that note meant for since the note references the "C2000 device"?

  • Hi Matt, David,

This note was actually initially intended for all C2000 devices (as they share the same SCI, as you say); however, the note was found to be incorrect at a later time, hence the revisions (and pending revisions) to remove the note from all C2000 TRMs. Hope this helps! Unfortunately we are unable to mass update our documentation, but this should be resolved as we continue to roll out the change.

    Best Regards,

    Allison

  • Thanks Allison! Solved.
