I think my question will be silly, because I am not familiar with the binary files.

Untill now, I programmed the micro controller directly with CCS. But today I want to use UniFlash with binary ou hex files as sources.

So, in a first time I Programmed the device with CCS and read and exported its memory with UniFlash:

In a second time I programmed the device with CCS, but with out file as source:

It seems to be OK (and the micro controller works in te application)

3) So, my deal is to generate an hex or a bin file with C2000 Hex Utility. But I could not generated the same file as exported before.

Can someone help me to configure Hex Utility, to make it generate a file image to add in UniFlash ?

Hi Vincent,

What was the format of the exported file that you took the memory dump of in UniFlash? Did you export a .bin data file?

To generate a .hex or .bin file in CCS with the Hex Utility, you must specify the output file name (I've seen you done this in the above image) as well as set the output formation option.

Yes I exported a .bin (and opened it with sublim text)

That is exactly what I cannot manage. Which are the options to choose to generate the bin file, that as the same effect as the out file ?

Hello Manu. We don't want to use the out file because of confidentiality. I think that .bin is safer

Hi Vincent,

Can you try the Hex Utility->General Options and select "Image Mode"? Also, compare to the .bin you have generated?

What is the "effect" you are looking for? Because they are quite different. *.out file typically has debug symbols in addition to the target code. *.bin does not.

Yes, because the *.bin does not have any debug symbols. Because of that, tools like UniFlash need you to provide additional information like start address since that information is store in debug symbols that a *.bin file does not have.

Again, what is the limitation of the *.bin file? It only has target code and that is expected.

Oh, sorry, I was not clear enough. I just meant that I want to see the same code in the Flash after a loading of the *.out and after a loading of the *.bin (and see that the programm works, of course: it is just a led blinking, for this test)

As you can see, I do things randomly. It seems I m stupid

Before to read deeply the document about Hex Utility, I want to be sure: can I generate a binary file from a EABI format ?

The sentence you highlight is with reference to the specific utility tiobj2bin.bat. It does not support converting EABI files to binary. To convert from EABI to binary, use the workaround mentioned in the next sentence.
