TMS320F2810: Code composer studio

Part Number: TMS320F2810

Tool/software:

Hi,

I have been using an older version of CCS v3.3 with a TMS320F2810 MCU for an inverter application.

Based on this product, what would be the best estimate for hardware & software end of life period?

  • Hello,

Our device expert is out of office until tomorrow, please expect a 1-2 day in assistance.

    Best,

    Matt

  • Hi we do not have a specific EOL plan for F2810 and typically will continue to manufacture and sell a product unless customers stop purchasing or we have a manufacturing concern.  That said I would highly recommend migrating to a newer device (e.g. TMS320F28377S or TMS20F28P650SH) which will have better performance, features, software, apps support, training materials, pricing, and portability across the C2000 portfolio.

Please note CCS3.3 has already been obsoleted for many years and is no longer supported.

  • Hi Joe,

    Thank you for the information.

For our end product user, we are looking to provide an estimate on software & hardware support/lifetime. Could you help with a rough estimate on this?

  • Hello,

    CCS3.3 was obsoleted in 2009.

The F2810 SW drivers and examples were frozen in 2009 and no further updates will be made.

The devices themselves will continue to be sold as long as enough are purchased and there is no manufacturing barrier.  At this time, I don't see either of these to be an issue but I cannot predict how many years these will be met.  Please see TI's product life cycle and longevity policy here: Product life cycle | Quality policies & procedures | TI.com

Since the device is nearly 25 years old, it is conceivable that we will reduce or cease E2E support for this device family in the near future.  Past E2E threads will not be removed and would be a good reference if issues are encountered.

    I hope this helps.
