TMS320F28P650DK: Different C2000 devices achieve carrier synchronization through MCAN.

Part Number: TMS320F28P650DK

Tool/software:

Hello expert, can different F28P65 devices achieve PWM carrier synchronization through MCAN? Preferably, it should be a hardware-based carrier synchronization.
I noticed that the MCAN_FEVT signal in MCAN can be connected to the pwmxbar. However, there is no more detailed explanation about the MCAN_FEVT signal. Additionally, does TI have any demos for implementing PWM carrier synchronization using CAN?

  • Hello,

The MCAN_FEVT signal is a Filter Event that can be triggered when a CAN message with a filterID that matches the configured acceptence filter value is recieved in an RX Buffer. I am currently not aware of any examples we have for implementing PWM carrier synchronization via CAN, but I am looping in a fellow expert to provide any additional insight.

  • Hi,

The Table 22-3. ePWM SYNC Selection in TRM lists all the source which can be used for epwm counter sync in.

MCAN is not a valid source event for PWM carrier synchronization.

    Thanks

  • Hello, in the manual, MCAN_FEVT can be connected to PWMXBAR, then connected to the sync of DC, and finally connected to the sync of TB.
So I would like to know how MCAN_FEVT is generated~

  • Thanks for the clarification on the request and that you want to know how MCAN_FEVT is generated.

Will transfer back to MCAN expert

  • Hello,

As mentioned in the original reply. The MCAN_FEVT signal is a Filter Event that can trigger when a CAN message with a filterID that matches the configured acceptence filter value is recieved in an RX Buffer.

The SFID2[8:6] bit fields are used to control whether or not the FEVT[2:0] events are generated on a filter match.
