TMDSCNCD28P65X: Multiple Revisions and connector information

Part Number: TMDSCNCD28P65X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP41139, C2000WARE

Tool/software:

Hi team,

When I downloaded Altium file (SPRR483A.ZIP), there are Rev A, RevB, RevE1, RevE2. Which one is correclty reflects the boards?

This is because customer want to design their system by using TMDSCNCD28P65X, and designing PCB now.

In addition, there is header information, but no socket(connector) information. Could you let us know which connector should fit TMDSCNCD28P65X? Based on PMP41139, it seems that HSEC8-160-01-L-DV-A-BL and HSEC8-130-01-L-DV-A may fit. Is it correct?

Best regards,

Hayashi

  • Hi Hayashi-san,

Please use Rev B as that is the latest version.  Other versions are earlier revisions of the design.  May I ask why they are designing their system around TMDSCNCD28P65X?  The TMDSCNCD28P65X Control Card is meant for evaluation purposes only and not for final application hardware.  Anyway, if the connector information is needed, the BOM in https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSHSECDOCK would have the correct information.

    Best regards,

    Joseph

  • Thank you for your response. This question was originally mine, and Mr. Hayashi kindly posted it on my behalf.

We are using it for the initial prototype, not for the final product.
I checked the page you shared, but I couldn’t find a bill of materials (BOM) that clearly lists the part details.
I was not able to identify which connector parts are used based on the 180-Pin ControlCARD Docking Station Information Guide (Rev. A).
Could you please let me know where the BOM is located?

Also, is there any board data available (such as CAD data)?

  • Hello Naoto-san,

Understood that this is for prototype build.  Thanks for the clarification.  As for the schematics and BOM of the docking station, it is also available in C2000Ware under C2000Ware root directory\boards\ExperimenterKits\

Let me know if you need anything else.

    Regards,

    Joseph

  • May I ask an additional question?
There was a discrepancy of 0.07 mm at the connection point between the following two Gerber data sets when read in CAD.
Which data should be prioritized when designing the connector pin layout?

    1. The Gerber data contained in “c2000\C2000Ware_6_00_00_00\boards\ExperimenterKits\DockingStation_HSEC_120or180pin\R6_0\MCU047-R6_0_Gerbers.zip”

    2. The Gerber data downloaded from the link https://www.ti.com/tool/ja-jp/TMDSCNCD28P65X:
      “\sprr483a\sprr483A\TMDSCNCD28P65X\RevB”

  • Note:

The colored data represents the connector arranged on our side so that it can be inserted, using the dimensions from “② The Gerber data downloaded from the link www.ti.com/.../TMDSCNCD28P65X : \sprr483a\sprr483A\TMDSCNCD28P65X\RevB”.

The white lines represent the data from “① The Gerber data contained in c2000\C2000Ware_6_00_00_00\boards\ExperimenterKits\DockingStation_HSEC_120or180pin\R6_0\MCU047-R6_0_Gerbers.zip”.

When aligned to Connector ①, Connector ② is offset by 0.07 mm.

  • Hi Izumoto,

I'll defer you to one of our experts who is worked with this hardware.

    Best regards,

    Joseph

  • Hi,

Yes, you are correct. There is a slight mismatch between the two boards. I'm not quite sure how this came about. However the difference is small and it shouldn't cause mating issue. If you are concerned you can position the HSEC connectors on your board to match the controlCARD exactly.

  • In the last message, I was told to match the TMDSCNCD28P65X, but I’m not sure if that refers to the actual hardware or just the Gerber data.
Right now, I only have the Gerber data of the TMDSCNCD28P65X.
Does this mean I should place the connector according to the Gerber data?

  • The Gerber data will give you the most accurate measurement. However, TI also provides the Altium source files for the controlCARD.
