Tool/software:

I have a question.
Please tell me about the capacitance of the capacitor connected to the VDDIO pin of the "TMS320F28377DPTPEP".

”3.3-V digital I/O power pins. Place a minimum 0.1-μF
decoupling capacitor on each pin. The exact value of the
decoupling capacitance should be determined by your
system voltage regulation solution.”

Please tell me how to determine the capacitor capacitance.
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Osamu Kobayashi

  • Hello,

  • Hi Osamu-san,

0.1 uF capacitor is sufficient for most applications, you can see this referenced in the controlCARD and LaunchPad designs for F2837x. Please refer to http://ti.com/lit/pdf/spracz9 for some additional insight. If you expect that the power planes may be quite noisy, you can increase the capacitance of the decoupling caps (for example if you have common ground with particularly noisy circuitry). Or if you notice that your power supply output is prone to instability.
