TMS320F28388S: call to function without interrupt attribute could clobber interruptee's VFP registers

Greetings,

I understand from a different user's post that we have the responsibility to preserve the VFP register if we need to. I am receiving the subject message using the TI Clang v3.2.3.LTS compiler. I have looked for something which I could use to suppress the warning, but haven't succeeded. Is there such a setting? Is there a way to remove the warning?

Hi George,

That does, indeed, remove the warning. But according to the video, that will add some additional code. We do not use that register, and don't want to add the extra time that the push and pop would consume. Is there another alternative?

Keep in mind the example interrupt function in the video calls another function. It does so precisely to force the compiler to emit code that preserves all the registers. That makes it easy to see exactly which registers are subject to being preserved. A typical interrupt function makes no function calls. In that case, the only registers preserved are the ones modified during that function.

Hi George,

I believe I found the solution. I was able to add the compiler setting of -Wno-extra. That got rid of the warning.
