TMS320F280049: Crystal OSC Abnormally Goes Slow when Operating

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

Using F280049, after operating ~2hrs, the osc goes slower from 16MHz to 8MHz suddenly and lead to system fail. Checked the hardware design, but still want to confirm with you is there any potential software configuration may lead to this?

Will the F280049 shift external crystal to internal osc in some cases?

Joyce

  • Hi Joyce,

Clock shift is usually associated to HW fail, not software configuration.  If MCD is enabled, then OSCCLK will switch to INTOSC1 which is around 10MHz and this does not explain the 8MHz that is measured externally. One thing to check is it the crystal oscillator meets the specs as outlined in the datasheet.
