It is possible to install older compilers in newer versions of CCS. However, be warned that the device support for the device in use may note be supported in your targeted version of CCS. In order to install an older version navigate to File -> Preferences -> Code Composer Studio Settings. Select Compiler tab. Download your compiler of choice and ensure you've installed the compiler in one of the directories listed in your top window. See image below.
Once installed, hit the refresh button to have CCS automatically scan and detect the location of the compiler.
Please note I will recommend that you use the provided compiler associated with CCS v20. If there's a desire to use older compilers with the necessary device support, you will need to download older versions of CCS that support the compiler and device in question.
