TMS320F28379D: The internal protection circuitry for all of PINs of TMS320F28379D

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Tool/software:

I am working on the protection for TMS320F28379D that is used in a few commercial products. Some questions about PIN's internal protection circuitries:

1) Do all of pins have the internal protection circuitries for OCP, OVP, ESD and so on?

2) What are the specific internal protection circuitries? In other words, how do these circuitries look like?

3) Is it necessary to add the external protection circuitries for some pins? If yes, what pins are they and what kind of protection circuitries are needed/recommended?

Thanks

  • Hi Saijun,

It would be good to refer to the C2000 Hardware Design Guide as there is some guidance related to this, and in combination would be good to refer to the F28379D datasheet.

OCP and OVP are primarily handled by the CMPSS modules which are only available on a subset of the analog pins. There are some internal ESD diodes on the device though these are not necessarily specced, you can read some ESD information in the datasheet ESD section for specific values.

Power supply pins such as VDD and VDDIO should have decoupling caps as well as a bulk cap, details are specified in the datasheet. You can also add some RC filtering to ADC inputs depending on what you are intending to sample and any noise you may expect in the system.
