TMS320F2800137: What programming tool is recommended for a custom reference board design?

I would like to use a programming tool that is natively supported by Code Composer Studio, and wanted to verify what you would recommend. I came across the XDS110ISO-EVM, but it is meant for the controlSOMs and I will be using a custom-designed reference board for the TMS320F2800137. Is the XDS110ISO-EVM still the recommended programming tool? And could you confirm it is natively supported by CCS?

Hello Julius,

Yes, you can still use the XDS110ISO-EVM for JTAG debugging purposes. It is natively supported on CCS. The header for the XDS110ISO-EVM is different than the standard header. Please be extra careful that you are connecting the pins correctly. The XDS110ISO also comes with 10 pin, 14 pin, and 20 pin adapters. Hi Matt,

Thank you for the help. The TMDSEMU110-U seems like the one to go with. Do you know if it can do on-chip debugging similar to the ATMEL-ICE? With an OCD system the application can be executed whilst maintaining exact electrical and timing characteristics in the target system, while being able to stop execution conditionally or manually and inspect program flow and memory.

Hello,

Yes, those features are also supported by the TMDSEMU110-U. The C2000 hardware enables real-time debugging capabilities along with 2 hardware breakpoints and unlimited software breakpoints. I'll note trace capabilities are not supported by C2000 devices.
