TMS320F28388S: How to Use the QMA Module

Genius 3215 points

Part Number: TMS320F28388S

Tool/software:

Hi All,

We are planning to capture pulse signals using the F2838x.
We believe the functionality can be achieved using the incremental encoder signal interface of the eQEP module, but we are having trouble getting it to work properly.

Here is what we would like to achieve. Do you happen to have any sample source code?

  • Pulse input method: Forward rotation pulse input and reverse rotation pulse input method (commonly known as F-PLS and R-PLS method)
※ This is not the PLS-DIR method or the Lead-Lag method.
  • Signal pulse input module: The second eQEP module
  • Signal pulses are input to QEPA and QEPB respectively
    • QEPA: Forward rotation pulse input
    • QEPB: Reverse rotation pulse input
  • We do not use INDEX or STROBE signals; we want to use it as a free-running counter.

From reading the TRM, we believe it may be possible by using the QMA module within the eQEP.
However, we are not sure how to configure it properly.
We understand that the eQEP is generally designed to accept AB phase pulses with a 90° phase shift in the Lead-Lag configuration.
Our understanding is that the QMA is necessary to implement the FR-PLS method. Is this correct?

Best Regards,

Ito
