TMS320F28335: TMS320F28335PGFA - DSP Lockup During Programming via Ethernet or XDS100v3

Part Number: TMS320F28335

Tool/software:

TMS320F28335PGFA - DSP Lockup During Programming via Ethernet or XDS100v3

Dear TI Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue with the TMS320F28335PGFA device. During code programming via Ethernet or when using a TI XDS100v3 USB Debug Probe, the DSP sometimes locks up. After this occurs, I am unable to connect to the DSP or program with flash in any way. Our compiler version is TI v18.12.4.LTS.

I have come across similar issues mentioned in the TI E2E forum (e2e.ti.com/.../ccs-tms320f28335-suddenly-locked-out), where it is suggested that the device might need to be replaced if it loses power or if the power supply is unreliable during programming or flash erase. However, the idea that the device becomes permanently unusable (“bricked”) does not seem reasonable to me.

There must be a way to regain access to these devices and successfully reprogram them.

Please contact me as soon as possible regarding a solution to this issue.

Best regards,
Egemen Sonuç

  • Hi Egemen,

I apologize but if you accidently programmed the CSM - which can happen if power is interrupted during flash programming - the device is indeed "bricked". Without the password, there is no workaround ore recovery possible, as that would create a security gap.

    Kind regards,
