TMS320F28P659DK-Q1: ECAP | EPWM | ADC/GPIO Configuration

Part Number: TMS320F28P659DK-Q1

Hi Team ,

Could you please confirm the below queries in TMS320F28P659DK-Q1 (HLQFP-176) Microcontroller,

  1. For each ADC port, can certain pins be configured for ADC functionality while others are used as GPIOs.
  2. Can any GPIO pins be configured to perform the ECAP function? if not can you please mention the specific GPIO nos.
  3. For EPWM signals, can either the A or B channel be used for a specific function.
  • Hi Lathaniveatha,

    • For each ADC port, can certain pins be configured for ADC functionality while others are used as GPIOs.

Yes some pins can be configured for ADC functionalities. You can refer to the number of AGPIOs here.

These are known as AGPIO. For example A6 has GPIO and Analog functionality.

Here is the section that describes what a AGPIO is.

    • Can any GPIO pins be configured to perform the ECAP function? if not can you please mention the specific GPIO nos.

Yes any GPIO can be configured to peform eCAP function because of the INPUTXBAR architecture.

Refer to this table for what inputxbars are connected to which eCAP input.

For EPWM signals, can either the A or B channel be used for a specific function.

    That is correct.

    Best regards,

    Ryan Ma

  • Hi Ryan,

    Thanks for the clarifications.

I need a bit more clarity on the first query.

We have three ADC ports — for the A port, can we configure the pins as follows?

    • A0–A4, A14, A15: ADC pins

    • A6–A11: GPIO pins

Likewise, for ports B and C also, only GPIO-capable pins will be configured as GPIOs while the remaining pins will be configured as ADC inputs.

  • Hi Lathaniveatha,

Yes you can configure those as you have described. Please refer to the TRM/datasheet on the configurations.

    Best regards,

    Ryan Ma
