TMS320F28P650DK: Modify CIA402 solution example

Are you using the C2000Ware SDK?
There you will see the SDK_install_path\libraries\communications\Ethercat\f28p65x\docs\EtherCAT_SubordinateDevice_Controller_Software_User_Guide.pdf

In the document try to follow example 3.4 or 3.5

I followed the instructions in the document SDK_install_path\libraries\communications\Ethercat\f28p65x\docs\EtherCAT_SubordinateDevice_Controller_Software_User_Guide.pdf, and it worked fine.
However, I want to add some custom objects in addition to those defined by CiA402.
For example, I want to define a new object 0x2000 for motor_temp.
How can I add it?

What you need to do

1. Open SSC tool
2. Create new project
3. Select -> custom -> TI F28P65x CPUx Sample
4. In the created project select Application and set "CIA402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION" to 1
5. Then go to Tool -> Application -> Create New
6. Edit the object details in the opened excel file, add your custom objects here
7. Save and close the excel file

Now when you go to Application in the project you will see "CIA402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION" set to 1 and on the right side you will see it is read only. But if you don't see this

Repeat the first 4 steps
5. Then go to Tool -> Application -> import (Pick the excel file you created in step 5 before)

Now when you go to Application in the project you will see "CIA402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION" set to 1

From here you can create your slave files.

Let me know if this works. I tried it on my side, working fine for me.

I followed each step as you described, but it still doesn’t work. After step 7, the value of CIA402_DEVICE in Application auto set to 0. I tried to import excel file again but CIA402_DEVICE value still auto return to 0 after I import excel file.

Possible issues.

Issue with the excel file. Try using the one I have attached.
Issue with step 4, if you don't set CIA402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION" to 1 before importing the excel you won't be able to edit it afterwards.F28P65x CPU1 EtherCAT SubDevice.xlsx

I used the Excel file you provided, but the issue remains unchanged. After importing the Excel file, the CIA402 value is automatically set to 0. Before importing the file, I had set this value to 1, but once the Excel file is imported, it automatically resets to 0, and I can not edit it afterwards.

Have you tried saving and generating the code after importing the Excel file? Did it generate the cia402appl.c file? 

Because the CIA402_DEVICE value is always automatically set to 0 after importing the Excel file, when I generate the code, the cia402appl.c file is not generated.

I tried this on SSC Tool version 5.12 and 5.13
This is not working on 5.12 but working on 5.13

I tried it on version 5.13. After importing the Excel file, the value of Cia402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION was not reset to 0 (it remained 1 as previously set). However, when I generated the code (Project → Create New Slave Files), the file cia402appl.c was not created, and the value of Cia402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION was automatically set to 0 in the SSC tool.

cia402appl.c is being generated for me. Can you send me your excel file, I will try this on my side.

I tried with this file. When importing to SCC tool it shows some warning regarding IndexIncrement and PdoIndexIncrement variables. 
Those need to be set in excel file cells 3B and 4B, you can reference the file I sent earlier.

Also, make sure to save the project before importing the excel file or the Cia402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION variable will go back to 0.

I saved the project before importing the Excel file and used the Excel file you provided for SSC Tool version 5.13, but the issue remains the same — the CIA402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION value is still automatically set to 0 when I generate the code.

Doesn't work every time for me either. Once I import the wrong excel it wont work with the correct excel. Some bug at Beckhoff's side I guess. I have to SSC tool and reopen, then create a new project, set Cia402_SAMPLE_APPLICATION  to 1, then import the correct excel.

Try doing that.
