Can you try putting the device in wait boot and see if you can connect? From there, you can re-flash the device with functional code.

Thanks for your answer it worked and I was able to solve my issue.

I have another question regarding CCS : 

Sometimes when I debug after selecting the .map and .out files in the project configuration...it will flash the microcontroller with an empty main.c unless when sometimes CCS asks me to locate the ert_main file after clicking the debug button and then the microcontroller will be flashed with my code.

How to avoid this behavior and make my microcontroller be flashed with my code right after clicking the debug button ?

Unfortunately I don't have a screenshot of the error because it's inconsistent (it happens or not depending on the project) but here are the config I always do :

but sometimes it shows the empty main.c and not the my code. And sometimes it asks me to locate the ert_main file and then it shows my code.

Do you have multiple main functions in your project? After flashing, the CCS debugger automatically sets a breakpoint in the device memory address that corresponds to the function main() and runs the device until it breaks at it. CCS may be getting mixed up.

You could also try setting the .out location for CCS to program in debug mode for your project:

1. Right click your project and navigate to Debug As > Debug Configurations
   1. 
2. Find your debug configuration (.ccxml) and navigate to the Program tab. Enter the location of the program .out file in "Program".

Maybe the way I create the project at the beginning is not right : I always create new project with the option ''empty main.c'' and then I just navigate to the project properties and set the paths to the .out/.map file and then I start debugging. is it the right way ?

That likely sounds like the issue. I usually import an empty project from C2000Ware and modify from there. Let me loop in the CCS team for any further comments regarding this feature.

Are you creating an empty new project and just specifying path to an existing out file generated from another project and then passing that to the debug configuration for a project debug session? Did I understand correctly?

yes, correct. 

The .out/.map files are not from another project but from a random location on my PC (for example on the desktop)

Ok, that explains it. This is not a recommended setup. Why are you using such an environment? I assume you just want to debug an existing out file. Why not do a project less debug session?

You can load the .out directly to the device using this method.

I thought it was the right way to do I'm not advanced CCS user. So what I want to do is the following : I compile my code from Simulink and the output of the compilation is the .map/.out file and I want to flash the microcontroller with the code and debug so I can monitor variables that I have set in the code.

What do you suggest as a workflow ?
