TMS320F28335-Q1: Not able to fix selection between F28335 or F28379

Part Number: TMS320F28335-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335

We are in a design process of a SVG product. We have development board for TMS320F28335 and TMS 320F28379. Need your support to fix which part will be better with respect to support, reference design an technical capabilities. Till date developed 40 % code on TMS320F28335 . But now want to switch F28379 . Please suggest reference design/example project

  • Hi Manish,

Thanks for reaching out. What is the expansion of the SVG acronym here?

Can you provide any additional details on system requirements? These are older Gen1/Gen2 devices and TI has since released new 3rd generation devices which may suit your application and have the best reference design/technical support.

Please provide us with this additional information so we can get your query to the right folks and provide the recommendations.

    Best Regards,

    Zackary Fleenor

  • Thanks Zackary fir your reply.

SVG is a Static Var Generator  used to provide reactive power to grid in leading as well as lagging type. It is a sort of Front-end converter Main tasks are

    1. Measurement of network parameters Voltage, Current

    2. Clarke and Park Transformation to find reference current and voltage

    3. PLL for grid Voltage synchronization

    4. SVPWM control for IGBT switching

Need your support for signal conditioning of analog signals, processing analog signals, using SPLL. and relevant libraries and driving PWM . Our old design is based on TMS320F28335 but having few issues with that. Now we want to redesign the whole project. Need your guidance.

    Best Regards

    Manish

  • Hi Manish,

Are these 3 phases or single-phase system and which topology?

For 3 phases refer to TIDA-01606

For 1 phase refer to TIDA-010938

You can find our list of reference design in C2000Ware Digital Power SDK: Reference Designs

I would recommend to either use P55x or P65x set of devices from our latest gen 3 family.

    Thanks and regards, Pawan
