CODECOMPOSER: Debug session would not start on laptop, but works on desktop

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F28P65X,

Dear Help,

I have been able to compiled and run blinkyLED example with debugger on LaunchXL-F28P65X EVM with CCS 20.3.1 on a desktop PC (Win 10 Pro), but debugger session won't start on two my laptops.

Lenovo Flex 5: EVM was not recognized by windows, using the same EVM and USB A-to-C cable that worked fine on desktop. Connecting with USB C to C cable, EVM was recognized in CCs (View-connected device).  While same LED example compiled OK, when I tried to launch debugging session, the screen flashed a few messages and paused on "spawning ./DSLite LENENT" for a long while, and then nothing happened.  All debugging buttons were greyed out.

Dell XPS13: same as Lenovo case with C-to-C cable, except when tested USB A to C cable connection (no USB A on XPS), I got tyhe same result whether connecting C to C or through a USB Port Expander and then USB A to C cable.

When debugging session not connected, only one of the two blue LEDs on the LaunchPad (Power LED) came on.  The "Connected session" LED never came on.  No error messages were displayed.  Is there anywhere I can find a log file to see what went wrong?

Please help, as I need to continue development while away from the bench PC.

    Thanks!

Benjamin

  • Hi, Kakshya,

Thanks for the reply.  After some additional testing, I found out that my antivirus program (AVG) was blocking something during the installation process, so I disable it and reinstall CodeComposer.  Now I am able to start the debug process successfully, with the code downloaded into RAM, and I can Run, Single-step, etc.

Hope this info is helpful to other users also.
