TMS320F28377D: XRS periodic reset

Part Number: TMS320F28377D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH,

Hi Champs,

An issue was encountered with the TMS320F28377D: some devices were found to be inoperable on the PCB (unable to be programmed by uniflash). Inspection revealed a repetitive low-pull-down process on the XRS pin with 50ms intervals. After replacing the PCBA with a new F28377, the RST pin no longer pulled low abnormally, and programming and normal operation were achieved. Furthermore, the DSPs that could not be programmed on the PCB could be programmed normally on the customer's offline programming platform, and testing showed no abnormal low-pull-down on the XRS pin.

Why is there a 50ms periodic reset? Because JTAG cannot connect, I cannot view the contents of the RESC register to confirm the reset source. Also, why can't the device be programmed on the UniFlash but can be programmed on the customer's offline tool?

Thanks!

Julia

  • Hi,

Please check if the Watchdog or NMIWD is triggering XRSn from the device. Is there any code flashed on the device with the issue observed.

First thing is to debug the root cause of the reset, flashing or not flashing the device with the tool is not a concern.

    Thanks
