TMS320F28P559SG-Q1: Many chips resistor between VDDIO and GND change to small value

Part Number: TMS320F28P559SG-Q1

Hi team,

I ask this for my customer.

My customer valeo is use F28P55 as 7kW OBC control, and recently they are doing A sample test.

And when their equipment run in 4kw, they find the OBC output voltage is abnormal, and they find at this time, the PWM pulse also abnormal. But the power and voltage is normal all the time.

Then they replace the F28P55 in bad board and the equipment can work normal.

And they find the current of VDDIO is abnormal(about 400mA, normal is less than 100mA), and the resistor between VDDIO and GND is about 10ohm(normal is 600ohm)

Six prototypes have recently encountered this problem, so they want to find the root cause.

I ask them to provide the supply power schematic and layout:

1.They're afarid some desgin problem exist in their production and this cause the chip failure, could you help to check this and provide your comment?

2.Any possible reason will cause this failure? They want us can give them a list that they can check this in their usage.

  • Hi Shuqing,

Can't really give a comment with limited background on the issue but could you help clear something up?  The 10ohm measured resistance that they are reporting, is that from the F28P559 device when it was taken out of the board?  There is not much to be concluded from the limited schematics snapshot but is it possible to get waveform shots of the supply rails and XRSN pin while the device is running?  Wanted to see if there are any transients in the power lines while the device is running.

Is the high VDDIO current observed immediately or does it run fist normally with the expected current then suddenly increase?

    Thanks and regards,

    Joseph
