TMS320F28379D-Q1: can't clear NewDat in CAN_IF2MCTL

Part Number: TMS320F28379D-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TEST2

Hi experts,

Good day! I am asking for customer.

My customer is also facing NewDat clear issue in CAN_IF2MCTL like previous post: https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000-microcontrollers-group/c2000/f/c2000-microcontrollers-forum/910915/tms320f28388d-failed-to-clear-newdat-in-can_if2mctl/3375864?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=newdat%2520clear#

In previous post it's mentioned that have to look at the message ram data for the latest status of NewDat. So I check the Message RAM Representation in Debug Mode, but I could't find the NewDat in the table. Could you please tell me which address should I read in Message RAM under debug mode? Or if there any method to read NewDat status when debugging?

  • Hi,

I did tests to get the NewDat bit in register and found following phenomena:

When CAN message comes, after enter message receive interrupt, NewDat will be set up after set 0x7F in IF2CMD. (You can refer to variable test1 in attached demo)

After clear out new data flash with TXRQST, then read the NewDat, NewDat is still 1 in register. (You can refer to variable test2 in attached demo)

If set 0x7F in IF2CMD again, NewDat is 0 in register. (You can refer to variable test in attached demo)

    The customer wants to confirm

    1. Does this phenomena consistents with expectations?

    2. Will there be other special conditions that will cause different results under the same receiving step?

    Attached demo: 28379_CAN_Demo.zip

    Please check ASAP. Thanks!

    Best Regards

  • Hi,

    Any update on this request?

  • Hi Kita,

I apologize as the expert has been out of office due to the holidays. Please expect a response in the coming days.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Kita,

Sorry, just seeing this post.  The NewDat (and IntPnd) bit will only be cleared in message RAM not in the IFCMD register.
