F29H850TU: 16Bit CFFT/CIFFT

Hi, We are considering using F29H for FFT/IFFT process, and now we are using F28379D and 256-FFT/IFFT both in 16Bit which using VCU unit, the processing time is about 2900 Cycles. For F29H, the rtlibs provides f32 FFT/IFFT library, and the processing time is about 11000Cycles for 256-FFT/IFFT(the same as F2837x), and is too slow for us. Is there any plan to provide 16Bit FFT/IFFT library?

Hi Chen,

For F28x, it is about 11000 cycles for 256-pt single-precision floating-point CFFT, however for the F29x it is ~2271 cycles. The F29x is much faster than the F28x for the FFT.

Thanks, Sira. I found the run cycles of F29H in f29h85x / cfft_f32_asm.asm file, I will test the f32 cfft after i get the LAUNCHXL-F29H85X Evaluation board. and our application uses 16Bit Fixpoint fft/ifft, so Is there any plan to issue 16Bit Fixpoint FFFT/IFFT library　like c66x DSP?

Hi Chen,

This would be one of our backlog items. We don't have a clear timeline for when this would be available. Would you be able to do a fixed-pt to floating-point conversion prior to the FFT, and vice versa after? It may add some cycles but would be good to check how much.
