How to boot the IBL + Application binary? - Processors forum - Processors - TI E2E support forums (In this FAQ, a portion of steps belongs to the usage of NOR-writer).

Have you made any changes to the norwriter.c file?

Thanks for the reply. I did not change anything in norwriter.c . We can generate dat file and program the processor in NO BOOT mode consistently. But we have to upgrade the processor in NOR BOOT mode only without jtag. But upgrade is inconsistent in NOR BOOT mode as mentioned earlier. Base image is already present in Board.

In the above FAQ, they are programming in NO BOOT mode only. This did not help us.

We are using SPI NOR BOOT in our design. Burning .dat file into NOR flash in NO BOOT mode using jtag for a new board, not using any other specific image.

In general for NOR Boot mode, the ROM expects a valid next-stage boot image in NOR.

I’m reviewing the boot flow and verifying whether the existing NOR writer utility meets your requirements.

Can you share the dip switches configuration details as well?

We use boot mode switch which has 4 pins, pin 1 is set to ON for NO BOOT mode, pin1 is set to OFF for NOR BOOT mode. Need your guidance to generate a proper bootable image.

I have generated app.dat file as per the given procedure and transferred app.dat file to DDR in tms320c6655 from another processor which has ethernet. I'm using norwriter.c to write app.dat file from DDR into Nor flash(MT25QUABA8ESF-0SIT) in NOR BOOT mode.

We are following the exact steps given in the document. In the above document they are programming the EVM in NO BOOT MODE, but we have to upgrade the nor flash in NOR BOOT mode in our case. we expect your continued guidance.

The TI norwriter writes to the flash when flashing from code composer studio.
