TMS320F280025: MotorControl SDK solutions: Time-base not synchronized when configuring the inverter PWM

Part Number: TMS320F280025

Hi ti,

I reviewed some example code in the MotorControl SDK, specifically in the “universal_motorcontrol_lab” solution.

In the inverter PWM configuration, time-base synchronization cycle by cycle is not enabled  by using EPWM_disablePhaseShiftLoad(). The PWMs are synchronized only once during initialization by calling
SysCtl_enablePeripheral(SYSCTL_PERIPH_CLK_TBCLKSYNC).

Is this sufficient to ensure that all PWMs remain aligned over a long period of time? If not, I think the SVPWM will not operate correctly.

Best regards,

  • Hi Trinh,

Since we are running all 3 PWMs at the same frequency at all time based off the same clock, it is not necessary to run cycle by cycle sync, as long as you get all 3 PWM instances start counting at the exact same time with SysCtl_enablePeripheral(SYSCTL_PERIPH_CLK_TBCLKSYNC).

If you still would like to do cycle by cycle sync, it is also fine, and please keep TBPHS setting to 2 on PWM2/3 with PWM1 as syncin source, and make PWM1 generate sync at 0, to get all 3 PWMs in sync.

    Han
