F29H850TU: F29 Rev A – Intermittent Reset Failure During Reboot Test

Dear TI Team,

We have developed a controller based on the F29 device (Revision A), and we are currently in the final stage of testing.

As part of our validation, we are running a reboot stress test in which the F29 is repeatedly reset by an external FPGA. We have a clear visual indication (via an LED) when the F29 is fully up and running.

During this test, we observed an intermittent issue: approximately 1 out of 200 resets fails.
When the failure occurs, it appears that the F29 either becomes stuck or does not perform the reset properly.

In one such failure case, while the device was in this non-responsive state, we connected a JTAG debugger without triggering an additional reset. Upon connecting (without programming or loading symbols), we received a Security Error Violation.

Although we are not using Secure Boot and are not intentionally designing a secure application, we do have a dummy CERT program located in Flash. Under normal conditions, the device powers up and runs without any issues.

We managed to capture the contents of several registers during the failure:

  • The Error Aggregator registers were all zero

  • Some other registers could not be read due to the Security Violation (reason unclear)

We are hoping that the captured information may help identify the root cause of this behavior, and we would appreciate your guidance on that.
