F29H850TU: F29H850TU EQEP Interface Question

Hi all,

I'm using quadrature A-B encoder interface with F29H850 MCU and have a question about fault behavior.

Question:

What happens if one channel of the encoder (A or B) is shorted to GND?

1. Will the EQEP module continue to count (incorrectly)?
2. Does EQEP have built-in failure detection for this condition?
3. Should I implement external monitoring to detect single-channel failures?
