TMS320F28386D: XRSn reset is not visible on the BOOT ROM STATUS

Hello,

-I have my XRSn reset path, connected to a PMIC chip and I tried doing a test in which I force ESM reset by the PMIC chip and in the next startup I check the PMIC registers and the BOOTROM status to confirm that the reset caused is ESM through XRSn.

-The PMIC registers confirm that ESM reset was triggered, actual reset occured but when I check the BOOTROM Status I don't see the XRSn flag set and only the All handled Resets flag is set.

-The BOOTROM Status value is 0x80011002

-This test is only executed after cold starts, and it fails very very sporadically.

Could you try XRSN trigger from MCU internal sources like SIMRESET.XRSn and verify the same across multiple runs on same device ?

-Yes, it is the CPU1 BROM STATUS.

Does it show XRSn most of times and only fails sporadically?

-Yes, it shows XRSn most of the times and fails very sporadically.

Could you try XRSN trigger from MCU internal sources like SIMRESET.XRSn and verify the same across multiple runs on same device ?

-This issue happens on many devices and not just one, also I tried the SIMRESET.XRSn and it is giving correct results.

Is it possible, that in the Boot ROM Code the evaluation for XRSn reset fails or could be there an ERRATA related to that?

It is possible but we dont have such issue observed before

If SIMRESET.XRSn is working correctly in multiple iteration on same device then its unlikely the issue is from MCU.

Could you check when the PMIC is triggering reset if its unintentionally somehow also doing a POR by chance ?

It doesn't do a POR reset, as I have No Init variables and all have correct values

Software decoding of Reset cause could potentially have an issue hypothetically although as I said this is not verified and we have not seen such an issue before.

The boot rom code is open source if you would like to have a look at this it in C2000Ware library bootrom folder -C2000Ware\libraries\boot_rom\f2838x\revA\rom_sources\cpu1\F2838x_ROM\bootROM\source

Could you please let me know what the potential issue of the decoding of reset cause is, I know as you mentioned that it is not verified but what is the hypothesis that you have regarding the decoding as this might be the issue we got.

I checked the bootrom code and I didn't find anything that could cause the issue we currently have.

No thats not what I said, I meant the issue is not verified and we have not seen any issues with it also.

Especially if SIMRESET XRSn is working fine showing XRSn as reset cause I highly doubt the issue is with MCU
