TMS320F28P650DK: EtherCAT PDI Watchdog cnt , Process unit error and verify ECATPHYCLK fail

Can you switch to latest c2000ware and ccs and check once. Also can you let me know which example are you running.

I get the same issue after switch to latest c2000ware(6.0.1.0). I'm running exampple "f28p65x_cpu1_echoback_solution"

My test hardware sch and code as bellow:

Hi , some questions

• Are you using a different PHY ? can you let me know which phy are you using? Also did you try running basic hal test was it successful (it should put the device in init mode.)
  
  
• Can you give more info on clocks provided .
•  by "cant write EEPROM use TwinCAT " are you getting some error message when you try to write in smartview in twincat.
  
  
• can you let me know the complete steps on how are you running the program so if , i can replicate it by my end if something is off.

Mean while let me go though schematics . Let me get back in few days.

1. PHY is DP83826ERHB,  running example "f28p65x_cpu1_pdi_hal_test_app"  get "ESC_HW_INIT_FAIL", reported by ESC_initHW at " if(eepromTimeOut == 0U){ return(ESC_HW_INIT_FAIL);  } "

2. Clock Config "PLLSYSCLK = 25MHz[XTAL_OSC] * 32[IMULT] / [2[REFDIV] * 2[ODIV] * 1[SYSDIV]]"

3. Nothing happend, just like being ignored by Twincat
     1. click "Write EEPROM"
     2. a dialog box pops up
     3. select "F28P65x CPU1 EtherCAT SubDevice"
     4. click "ok"
     5. dialog box closed and nothing happend

4. steps:
     1. import project from C2000Ware6.0.1.0
     2. open SSC
     3. Import SSC Project from "f28p65x_ssc_config.xml"
     4. create SSC src
     5. change "Variant and core" to TMS320F28P650DK7
     6. change debug probe to "XDS100v3"
     7. fix GPIO mapping
     8. add clock verify code
     9. build "FLASH" target
     10. program firmware and enter debug mode
     11. run full speed
     12. check net cable connect with PC
     13. open TwinCAT
     14. create TwinCAT project
     15. I/O->Devices->right click->scan
     16. get "BOX1()"
     17. double click "BOX1()" -> "EtherCAT" page ->click "Advanced Settings.." -> "ESC ACCESS" -> "E2PROM" -> "SmartView" -> click "Read E2PROM", get error "E2PROM size" and "PDI Type"
     18. try Write E2PROM failed
     19. switch to "ESC ACCESS" -> "Memory" view->click "Reload", get Process unit error

If I combine all the replies together, I always get an error message "An error occurred. Please try again or contact your administrator." I have to reply separately. sorry about that.

Just to confirm:

• Did you do this step since it was not mentioned in your answer

  • Copy the ESI file (F28P65x CPU1 EtherCAT SubDevice.xml) generated by the SSC tool into the TwinCAT directory (Default location: C:/TwinCAT/3.1/Config/Io/EtherCAT) If the TwinCAT application is already opened, it must first be closed and re-opened for the ESI file to be discovered.
• Since you are using xds 100v3 did you update in .ccxml file also of the project.
• When you run the program for the first time it will go into to ESC_HW_INIT_FAIL because eeprom wont be program . Also when you program eeprom twincat doesnt show any message you just see a just a progres bar in twincat bottom. For pdi hal example the eeprom you have to load is different . (C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_6_00_00_00\libraries\communications\Ethercat\f28p65x\eeprom)
• By clock info I meant hardware wise more details on clock provided to the chips.

1. Yes ESI file coped to C:/TwinCAT/3.1/Config/Io/EtherCAT, I can find "F28P65x CPU1 EtherCAT SubDevice" in the list

2. Yes  ".ccxml" file is updated, program C2000 success

3. no progres bar appear

4. two PHY use same 25MHz oscillator, C2000 uses an independent active crystal oscillator.  just like schematics shows

Also the active crystal oscillator waveform is normal.
