TMDSCNCD28035: TMDSCNCD2808 controlCARD question

Part Number: TMDSCNCD28035
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSDOCK28035, , TMS320F280039C

Hello, we have purchased a TMDSCNCD2808 controlCARD, but we did not buy the DIMM100 experimenter kit.

As you mentioned, if we purchase the TMDSDOCK28035 kit, which comes with the experimenter kit, could you please confirm whether it is compatible with the TMDSCNCD2808 controlCARD?

In other words, can the TMDSDOCK28035 kit be used with our existing TMDSCNCD2808 controlCARD? Because our system has been using the TMDSCNCD2808 all along.

Please help confirm whether the development board model for the DSP TMS320C6713 chip is TMDSDSK6713.

  • Hello,

Yes, the TMDSDOCK28035 kit is fully compatible with your TMDSCNCD2808 controlCARD. Both products use the DIMM100 connector standard, which ensures interoperability across all DIMM100-based controlCARDs and docking stations.

Please help confirm whether the development board model for the DSP TMS320C6713 chip is TMDSDSK6713

Yes, the TMDSDSK6713 is the correct development board for the TMS320C6713 DSP chip.

Be aware that the TMS320C6713 is an older part with limited design support and is not recommended for new designs. Additionally, after CCS version 8.3.1, a separate JTAG debug probe (such as XDS200) is required to connect the TMDSDSK6713 to later versions of Code Composer Studio.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

  • I could not find the product TMDSDSK6713 on the TI official website. Has this item been discontinued? Is it still available for purchase?

  • It is stated in the TI XDS200 documentation that the C671x family (to which the TMS320C6713 belongs) is not supported. Therefore, I would like to ask:
    1. Can the TMDSDSK6713 be used with the JTAG XDS200 emulator?
    2. Can it be used with the Windows 10 operating system?
  • Hello,

Ti does not sell TMDSDSK6713 anymore. You could probably find the kit from the distributors such as DigiKey or Mouser Electronics.

Would you mind sharing what is the scope for TMDSCNCD28035? TMDSCNCD28035 is older C28x device, and there is much more up-to date portfolio with the new generation device such as TMS320F28P55X, TMS320F280039C etc.

These devices use controlCard as EVM which provides newest software package and support: i.e. :https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSCNCD28P55X

Would you consider using new generation of C2000 devices?

    1. TMDSDSK6713 cannot be used with with the JTAG XDS200 emulator.

    The supported kits are:

    2. Yes, with constraints. The TMDSDSK6713 works on Windows 10 when using CCS v8.3.1 or earlier.

  • Can the TMDSDSK6713 be used with the XDS150 emulator, and is it compatible with Windows 10?

  • The XDS150 is not documented as compatible with the TMDSDSK6713, and Windows 10 support depends heavily on which emulator and CCS version you use. The latest compatible CSS version is v8.3.1.

The TMDSDSK6713 ships with a Spectrum Digital XDS510-class onboard emulator. This emulator relies on a 32-bit software stack, which is fundamentally incompatible with CCS v9.0 and later (64-bit applications).
