TMS320F280049C: We request TI technical review of our schematic for a custom industrial linear servo drive.

Part Number: TMS320F280049C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26LV32, LM5164, DRV8353, CSD19535KTT

Project Context:

  • Target application: Precision motion control
  • Performance requirement: High-accuracy position and current control
  • DC bus: 24–60 V
  • Current: 5 A continuous, 15–20 A peak
  • Position feedback: Incremental encoder, differential RS-422

Main TI Devices in This Design:

  • TMS320F280049C
  • DRV8353S
  • AM26LV32
  • LM5164

Request: Please review our schematic and advise on any critical corrections or risks before PCB layout, particularly for:

  1. Current-sense chain (shunt → DRV8353 CSA → RC filter → MCU ADC/PGA)
  2. PWM-triggered ADC sampling and control-loop timing on F280049C
  3. DRV8353 configuration and protection strategy (CSA gain selection, OCP thresholds, fault handling)
  4. Grounding and analog/digital/power partitioning approach
  5. Industrial robustness concerns to address at schematic stage

  • Hi Sravya,

    We do not provide schematic review services for in these cases over E2E. As a reference, please use the C2000 LaunchPad or controlCARD hardware designs and their available documentation as guidance for your schematic implementation. Your design can be compared against those reference designs for items such as power supply, grounding/partitioning, signal routing, and MCU interface connections.

    Best Regards,

    Masoud

  • Hi Masoud,

    Thank you for your response and for sharing the C2000 LaunchPad/controlCARD references. We appreciate your guidance and will align our implementation with TI’s recommended hardware practices.

    As we move forward, could you please help connect us with:

    1. A C2000 Field Application Engineer (FAE) in India for technical guidance during design validation.
    2. A TI sales contact or authorized distributor in India to support production planning.

    For context, our design is based primarily on TI components, and our planned volume is approximately 5000 boards. Estimated TI demand is as follows:

    • ADS7056IRUGR: 3/board -> 15,000
    • AM26LV32EIDR: 1/board -> 5,000
    • CSD19535KTT: 7/board -> 35,000
    • DRV8353SRTAT: 1/board -> 5,000
    • ISO1044ED: 1/board -> 5,000
    • LM393DR: 1/board -> 5,000
    • LM5164DDAT: 1/board -> 5,000
    • SN65HVD232DR: 1/board -> 5,000
    • SN74LVC1G04DBVR: 1/board -> 5,000
    • SN74LVC1G08DBVR: 6/board -> 30,000
    • SN74LVC1G17DBVR: 3/board -> 15,000
    • SN74LVC1G86DBVR: 1/board -> 5,000
    • TLV1117LV33DCYR: 1/board -> 5,000
    • TMS320F280049CPZ: 1/board -> 5,000
    • TPS563200DDCR: 1/board -> 5,000
    • TPS7A2033PDBVR: 1/board -> 5,000

    Total TI component volume: approximately 155,000 units for 5000 boards.

    We would be grateful for your support in connecting us with the appropriate technical and commercial contacts in India.

    Best regards,
    Sravya
    Electronics Engineer

  • Hello,
