TMS320F28P550SJ: What does "98% in AFCI" mean?

Part Number: TMS320F28P550SJ

In Arc_fault customer training.ppt, the Live DC arc fault detection test is introduced: Achieve >98% detection accuracy at UL 1699B test conditions.

What does it mean to reach 98%? Does it mean that among 100 arc detections, 98 are real arcs? Or does it mean that 98 arcs can be detected for every 100 arcs that occur?

  • Hi Alfred

98% accuracy means 98 areal arc and 2 are false alarm. In real application, false alarm can be reduced by adding redundancy to arc detection. That means when arc is detected repeatedly, the action is taken.

    Thank you
