CCSTUDIO-THEIA: CCS V 20.5.0 TMS320F28P650DK6 – Program not retained after power cycle

Part Number: CCSTUDIO-THEIA

Hi Team,

I am working with the TMS320F28P650DK6 controller and facing an issue with code retention after power cycling.

Issue description:

  • I am able to successfully flash the program using CCS.
  • The code runs correctly immediately after flashing.
  • However, after powering OFF and then ON again, the program does not execute.
  • This behavior is observed even when using the provided example projects (e.g., LED blink example).

Observations:

  • Flashing process completes without errors.
  • Code execution works only once (right after flashing/debug session).
  • After reset or power cycle, the device does not seem to boot from flash.

What I have tried:

  • Tested with TI example projects (LED blink).
  • Reflashed multiple times.
  • Verified connections and power supply.

Questions:

  1. Is there any specific configuration required to ensure the code runs from flash after power cycle?
  2. Could this be related to boot mode configuration or linker settings?
  3. Are there any additional steps needed to properly program flash memory on this device?

I would appreciate any guidance on resolving this issue.

Thanks in advance.

  • Dear team,
still i didn't get any replay

  • Hi Nirdhesh,

Apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience!

    • Is there any specific configuration required to ensure the code runs from flash after power cycle?

    • Are there any additional steps needed to properly program flash memory on this device?

I assume that you are using custom hardware and not a TI evaluation kit (EVM)?

Boot Mode configuration can certintely prevent you from booting to flash, can you please help verify that both GPIO72 and GPIO84 are pulled high (Flash boot)?

Is your linker command file (.cmd) setup to execute out of Flash?

Besides the above, there are no extra steps required to program flash on this device.

    Thanks & Best Regards,

    Marlyn
