TMS320F28P650SH: Parallel boot mode did not work

Hi,

We need to use Parallel boot mode to downloader our own bootloader to the RAM,

But we found this mode seems did not work as other similar devices e.g TMS320F2800xx.

the pins for parallel mode seems different in datasheet and TRM. we use the pins described in datasheet.

we use the GPIO0-GPIO7 as parallel interface, GPIO10 as C28_Control and GPIO11 as Host_Control,

boot0(GPIO84) and boot1(GPIO72) keep low when power up. we set the Host_Control GPIO11 high,

but the C28_Control always keep high. see the wave log for the 2 device. I captured the wave of TMS320F280049 and this TMS320F28P650SH when start parallel mode, see the 2 pictures

so is there any special for TMS320F28P65SH that to use the parallel mode.

Hello,

Referencing the Parallel boot source code in C2000Ware (C2000Ware_26_00_00_00\libraries\boot_rom\f28P65x\rev0\rom_sources\cpu1\F28P65x_ROM\bootROM\source\bootloader_parallel.c), the TRM is actually correct. Please confirm that GPIO13 is being asserted by the C28x. I've filed a ticket for this to be fixed in the datasheet.

That's really a bad news.

It seems you have replied the same question(for a dual core device TMS320F28P65D) in another ticket in this forum, but the answer is opposite.

Hello,

Apologies, this should've never happened. Our internal documentation contradicts the corresponding source code released in C2000Ware. For the thread you linked 8 months ago, I followed our internal documentation. For this thread, I referenced the Boot ROM source directly.

I am reaching out to the ROM team to confirm which is correct and will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hi Matt,

Waiting for your confirmation. The device control pin in TRM pulled low for one time during power up, So TRM seems right.

But our current board could not do the whole test about the parallel now. so it's better to be confirmed then we could redefine the board.
