F29H850TU: VSSOSC - Contradictions between Datasheet and Technical Reference Manual.

Part Number: F29H850TU

Hello!

About connecting a Crystal Oscillator to the F29H850TU, and how to connect VSSOSC:

The Datasheet (SPRSP93C rev. C) states:

End of page 68, in Table 5-1. Pin Attributes.

Mention to ALWAYS connect VSSOSC to "board ground". I assume this means VSS.

In section 6.16.3.3, Figure 6-11 shows the VSSOSC to be connected to GND (VSS) for Crystal, Resonator and single-ended oscillator.

Figure 6-12 shows again to connect VSSOSC to GND:

The Technical Reference Manual (TRM) (SPRUJ79A Rev. A) States:

In section 2.6.1.3 on page 208:

It seems there is no GND connection to VSSOSC.

Also looking on this forum shows many posts related to older C2000 devices where VSSOSC must be kept seperated from VSS (in the context of Crystal connections).

Question is:

I have tried both. I have crystal startup issues with VSSOSC floating, but not with VSSOSC tied to GND.
Which one is right? Should I follow the guidance from the datasheet or the TRM? Is VSSOSC supposed to be tied to GND or "floating reference"? Is this new for the F29H85x family?

Thanks!
