TMS320F28377D: Cannot load program after changing Emulator

Using CCS 20.5, went from the XDS100v2 to the XDS200 and from the Launchxl-F28379D eval board to our board using the 377D and I cannot load code via the JTAG. On the Eval board this worked fine using the XDS100v2 and on our board we had been using CCS 12 with no difficulty. For various reasons we need to move on to CCS 20.5.

Debug properties look ok:

Go to Debug and click on the green arrow and the targets remain Disconnected and nothing is loaded:

Any idea what is wrong?

And by the way, the JTAG self-test passes and I can confirm that the board is powered on. No error messages.

Hello,

When you right-click on "C28xx_CPU1" in the Debug view and try to connect, is there a CCS or JTAG error message?

The connection appears to work, but the code is not loaded:

I wonder if the XDS200 is too old for CCS 20 and I need to upgrade the emulator.

That is good to confirm the JTAG connection is stable. The XDS200 is supported by CCS v20.

You can load code by navigating to Run > Load > Load Program... in the top toolbar.

That works and I have confirmed that my code is running, but I shouldn't of had to do this manually.

Yes, this isn't the usual way to perform a program load (program load was performed through a manual debug session).

Please verify that you have a target configuration file ccxml located in your CCS project. Then, you can flash or debug (which will also flash) your project from there, which will handle the steps you just performed.
