TMS320F28P551SG: CCS 20.5.1 cannot see uint16_t definition

Part Number: TMS320F28P551SG
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Hi champs,

I am asking this for our customer.

Environments:

CCS 20.5.1

C2000Ware_26_01_00_00

Both ti-cgt-c2000_25.11.0.LTS (default on CCS 20.5.1) and ti-cgt-c2000_25.11.1.LTS

PS. We are aware of this issue and upgraded to ti-cgt-c2000_25.11.1.LTS.

https://sir.ext.ti.com/jira/browse/EXT_EP-13044

Please see the image below by any TI example code to find the definition of uint16_t.

Questions:

In CCS 20.5.1, why can't the user find the definition of uint16_t (from unsigned int) when we use "Go to definition"? Instead, we see unsigned __int128.

The user didn't see this issue with CCS 12.8.1. On CCS 12.8.1 (with Compiler 22.6.1 and F28P550x example code), the user can see its definition.

But the user doesn't find anything wrong with code building on CCS 20.5.1.

Is there anything wrong with CCS 20.5.1 or Compiler (Both ti-cgt-c2000_25.11.0.LTS (default on CCS 20.5.1) and ti-cgt-c2000_25.11.1.LTS) or C2000Ware_26_01_00_00?

  • Hi champs,

    Do you have any update?

  • Hi Wayne,

Sorry for the late response. This thread was just reassigned to me today.

I believe I can reproduce the issue. I am investigating.

    However:

But the user doesn't find anything wrong with code building on CCS 20.5.1.

When using the same example. I get these build errors:

    "C:/ti/C2000Ware_26_00_00_00/device_support/f28p55x/headers/include/f28p55x_device.h", line 57: error #20: identifier "uint16_t" is undefined
"C:/ti/C2000Ware_26_00_00_00/device_support/f28p55x/headers/include/f28p55x_device.h", line 57: error #839: illegal type for cregister 'IFR'
    "C:/ti/C2000Ware_26_00_00_00/device_support/f28p55x/headers/include/f28p55x_device.h", line 58: error #20: identifier "uint16_t" is undefined
"C:/ti/C2000Ware_26_00_00_00/device_support/f28p55x/headers/include/f28p55x_device.h", line 58: error #839: illegal type for cregister 'IER'

However, I am using a slightly older version of C2000Ware. I assume the customer is using the latest C2000Ware downloaded from ti.com?

  • Hi Ki,

Yes, they are using CCS 20.5.1 + C2000Ware_26_01_00_00, both are from ti.com. It seems you are using 26_00 rather than 26_01.

And we tested both compilers  ti-cgt-c2000_25.11.0.LTS (default on CCS 20.5.1) and ti-cgt-c2000_25.11.1.LTS, and the issues are same.

  • I tried 26.01 and the build issues went away. However the original issue you reported remains. I will follow up with engineering.

  • I filed a ticket for this. Tracking link: https://sir.ext.ti.com/jira/browse/EXT_EP-13471

    Thanks

    ki
