Hi experts,

TIDA-010992 is the reference design that seems to be the closest to the application currently being considered by our customer.
Note: If I create a thread with the device set to “TIDA-010992,” the thread is created in the Arm based microcontroller forum. Therefore, I am creating this thread with the device set to “TMS320F28P650DK.”

Q1: Where can I obtain the sample project?
It does not seem to be included in C2000WARE-MOTORCONTROL-SDK v6.0.0.0.

Q2: Is there any software flowchart or similar documentation available?

Q3: Is there any information available about the motors and encoders used in this reference design?
Since this is a humanoid robot hand reference design, I would like to understand which part of the finger or hand each motor is intended to control.

Q4: What is the purpose of connecting an external CPU via EtherCAT?
This reference design appears to be configured with a single TMS320F28P650DK. I would like to understand whether the commands to each motor are assumed to be handled entirely within this reference design, or whether an additional device such as an AM26x or AM24x is required.

As for ethercat

The TMS320F28P650DK acts exclusively as an EtherCAT slave and requires an external EtherCAT master for communication. It cannot operate function as a master for sending commands , it only acts as slave so you will need master such AM26x or Am24x which can act as master.

Hello,

The software for this reference design is under development. Therefore, the final flowchart is not available. CPU1 is used for motor 1-2 and EtherCAT while CPU2 is controlling motor 3-6. This is the motor and encoder in ref design: https://openelab.io/products/leadshine-12-mm-brushless-hollow

We use external PLC as EtherCAT master here.

Q5:Are there any other reference designs that drive three or more motors with a single chip?
I understand that two axes is the maximum for a single chip in Reference Design. Any information would be helpful, including solutions for upgrading from a two-axis design to a three-axis design.

What is the application? We'll have four axis drive with single chip for drone ref design soon.

If we're talking about hand ref design, The chip is already controlling six axis and Cia-402 is not added yet.

Q6: Could you please let me know the scheduled release date for the software?

We will begin by verifying the single-axis or dual-axis configuration, then proceed by incorporating 3-axis control capabilities.
