TMS320F28P650SK: TMS320F28P650SK USB controller VID/PID

Part Number: TMS320F28P650SK

Hi,

I am developing a custom product based on the TMS320F28P650SK. This product will have a USB connection to be able to be programmed by installers/clients with our software running on a PC.

I do not understand if I can use the default provided VID and PID for it, respectively 0x1CBE and 0x0002, or I have to set my owns. This question comes also because I did not find a way to change them from a generated syscfg configuration, apart from re-implementing the driver myself.

The USB descriptors (including the VID and PID) are defined in C files,

VID and PID are specified in the structure used for Descriptors.

For e.g

USB_VID_TI_1CBE,

USB_PID_BULK,

USB_CONF_ATTR_SELF_PWR,

USBBufferEventCallback,

You can change these IDs .

If we do not own a VID, is it allowed to use the ones already set from TI, considering this will be a commerical product sold in the EU?

I think we typically expect customers to work directly with USB-IF to get their own VID/PID. Will confirm with the legal team.

I found some posts in the forum with links to application forms for PID/VID, for other products or with broken links, for example:

USB VID:PID application is now online
