Replacement IGBT for TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT

Hello,

I have a technical question regarding replacement of a damaged TMDSHVMTRPFC development kit.

I found the exact replacement for the IGBT module (Powerex PS12765, rated 600V 20A), but the lead time for this item is 4 weeks.  I know that Powerex makes an almost identical module (PS12767, rated 600V 30A).  I see two considerable differences in the datasheets.  One is that the turn-off time for the 30A device is 2.1us, instead of 1.9us).  And the other is that the thermal resistance of the 30A device is lower than the 20A device.  Overall, the 30A device is rated for more power than the existing unit, is pin compatible with the 20A device, and has a lower thermal resistance.  As long as we operate under the same power restrictions as designated for the kit using the 20A device, I think we should be okay.  Can you please verify that this is an okay replacement part?  Also, does TI offer a repair service for damaged items?

Thank you,

Nick

  • Nick,

I can answer the technical part. Yes, you can replace it 30A version as long as the it is pin compatible. Just make sure that you increase the default deadband time in the code accordingly (120 should be fine for 60Mhz device, 10khz PWM).

    Regards
