F28069 - Oscillator: internal or external?

hello,

I am using F28069 device.

I am using a custom board and the controller uses external crystal (via X1, X2).

I would like to know whether using internal oscillator (with configuration to get system clock 80MHz) will result in any side-effects?

When you use the internal oscillator, the frequency accuracy of the clock is generally less than using an external crystal.

Consult the datasheet for specifics (See table 6-3), but it should be possible to achieve +/-1% accuracy with the internal oscillator over the full temperature range when using periodic temperature compensation. If you need better accuracy, you probably need an external crystal.

Otherwise, there is no difference when running from internal oscillator.

You will need to use an external crystal for USB functionality; 1% is not accurate enough for USB.
