Concerto TMDXDOCKH52C1 JTAG

Has anyone been able to get the Spectrum Digital XDS510PP Plus emulator to work with the Concerto controlCARD?  I have connected the JTAG to the 14-pin header, and solder-bridged the 7 resistor locations on the controlCARD.  I still get the following error:

IcePick_C_0: Error connecting to the target: Error 0x80000244/-2131 Fatal Error during: Register, Initialization, OCS, Cannot access register at 0x00000030

I changed the target configuration file to select the XDS510 Parallel Port-PCI Emulator and chose the correct device.

Is there anything else I need to do?  I am using CCS v5.2.0.0069 and have a Release 1.0 of the controlCARD.

  • Nelson,

You may also want to try removing resistors R48-R56.  This will completely remove any influence that the xds100v2 can have on the MCU's emulation path.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Nelson,

I was able to get this to work with the xds510usb (I no longer have any computers with parallel ports to test).  As Brett mentions, you do need to remove some of the other resistors.  The concerto side of the isolators remains powered, so their outputs can contend with the other jtag signals that you are trying to drive.  Minimally, R48, R49, R50, R51, and R53 should be removed, and J21(emu0) un-jumpered.

If you are using an external emulator on j2 of the docking station, there is also a jumper that must be set to disable the xds100 that is on the dock.  This is J8 on my Docking-Stn.

  • Ian,

I got an external JTAG to work by following your instructions.

    Thanks Ian and Brett.

  • Hi,

So is there no other current known way than removing some resistors to be able to connect to a concerto with an external emulator using jtag?

What did you do to make a xds510usb work?---> All those things you mentioned above? ,or do they just apply to the PP emulator?

    regards

    Matthias

  • Matthias,

You are correct.  Ian's instructions should cover everything necessary.

Unfortunately, the board wasn't designed to easily use external emulators.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  •  Hello!  I want to use external emulator XDS560PLUS debug the  development suite F28M35H52C1, but still get the following error:
