All:

The latest ControlSuite gives me 3 options, "Devices", "Development Tools", and "Libraries."

However, what happened to the icons for "Update","Application Notes","Training and Support","Datasheets and Guides","Code Composer Studio IDE", and "Search"?

These used to be available, even after ControlSuite went to the new incarnation.

Today I was informed that an "automatic update" was offered for ControlSuite. I waited for about an hour for the download to go, At some point, the installer mentioned that it could not access something, and the update stopped. I have not had another offer of "automatic update." Does anybody know what may have happened?

Todd,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the GUI. We're going through some growing pains internally which are manifesting themselves as these minor bugs in the GUI. I apologize for any trouble this has caused and ask you hold tight, as these pains will lead to an even better controlSUITE with more content.

There was in fact an update last week to controlSUITE v3.1.0. This update has several fixes in the GUI and should bring back the content you're missing. You should be able to kick off an update by going to "Start, All Programs, Texas Instruments, controlSUITE, Update controlSUITE". Give this a shot and let me know if this fixes your problems.

When I tried to kickoff an update via the procedure you outlined, I received "Error: Access is denied." No further info than that.

Hrmm...thats odd. The updater seems to be working for me. I'm curious if this is a Windows problem or an issue with permissions on the server that serves these updates. Would you mind checking permissions on the updater.exe?

Go to c:\ti\controlSUITE and right click on updater.exe. Check on the security/permissions tab that you have permission to execute. If you're in Windows 7 you may want to also try running the update as administrator. FYI, simply double clicking the exe will not launch the update. The EXE takes an argument to start the update. Just right click on the shortcut in the start menu and do run as administrator from there.

Let me know if either of those suggestions fixes your problem.

I was able to update ControlSuite on a "work" laptop. It updated with no problems to the newest look.

On my personal laptop (which is where I saw the problem with updating), I may reinstall ControlSuite, now that it looks like things have improved.

I spent over 2 hours waiting for my laptop to download ControlSuite. At the end it said it was "unable to access network location http:///blah.blah.blah" and uninstalled everything. I guess I will try again tomorrow...

Does anyone know if I can transfer the contents from one PC to another by copying to a USB hard drive and then copying again? Since I have ControlSuite set up on one PC, it seems like something I could do...

Todd,

You can certainly transfer all the source files and have access to all the software, but the GUI will not work. If you do this I can give you instructions for how to fix it once the files get translated. Let me know

I downloaded the full version of ControlSuite and I have loaded it on my personal laptop. However, when I try to update, it still says "Access is Denied." I am wondering if this is a setting on my laptop, or is a response from TI.COM??

Otherwise, I am able to see ControlSuite in its entirety.

I'm honestly not sure why the updater is telling you accesses denied. Did you try running it as an administrator?

I have the same problem. I tried installing ControlSuite on my pc. It said "unable to access network location software-dl.ti.com/.../F2907x_Device_Support_v160.cab". I have tried several times using the web installer and through zip file. It shows the same message every time. How do I solve this?

Hi Namrata,

First of all please start a new thread for new questions. Secondly, go for offline installer -> clean and delete the existing controlSuite folder in ti folder. Run the installer with administrator privileges.
