This is great and surely many applications will benefit from this qualification. Is it too early to send the next request ? [:)]  It will be great to have an application note on EEPROM emulation using flash - with this improved tolerance I am ceratin many will look for EEPROM emulation.

The new endurance specifications should be valid for all F28xx devices with the possible exception of F281x (F2812/11/10) silicon that is pre-Rev G (Rev 0, A-F).

We need to make this clear in the datasheets, but we have been shipping F281x  Rev G silicon only for several years, so the only pre-Rev G silicon would already be in-field or stashed away on a shelf somewhere.

Update: The F281x datasheet is being updated to make it clear that these new W/E numbers are only valid for Rev G on F281x.

The application note says a flash sector has to be entirely reserved for the emulated EEPROM. In the data sheet for for 'F2802x, 'F2802xx, a sector is one fourth of the flash memory for the former and one half for the latter. Am I reading the app note and data sheet correctly? I only want to emulate a 256 byte EEPROM. Also, the app note and data sheet state that erase time is 10 seconds per 8K sector. Is this correct?

The reason that an entire sector is being reserved is because when you erase it can only be on a sector basis. You cannot erase just individual locations. Regarding the timing in the datasheet, these numbers are a little extreme. You will typically see around 2 secs. per sector.

Thank you for your reply. I suppose I'll have to use an external EEPROM. That will negate the lower cost of the 'F280200.
