Interfacing parallel-in serial out shift register with 28335

Hello everyone

Looking for an example on how to interface a parallel-in/serial-out shift register with 28335. I am using 28335 with a legacy product and therefore don't have much freedom on interface side - this register outputs a shifted serial data with clock input. Thought to check with the group for a possible example/suggestion to avoid creating the whole system from blank. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

  • 28335 is connected to parallel side or serial? I think we need to know freq/timings of existing interface. You need to receive serial data? McBSP can be used. It is very flexible and can be configured to use external clock and different frame size(8bit, 16bit and even 2bit). I think there is no problems with parallel output...any GPIO example can help You..
  • Thanks Vasily for your suggestions - as I mentioned, this is a legacy product and unfortunately I don't have too much flexibility. This works as a GPIO extension - basically takes input from 8 lines and then creates a serial data stream for the microcontroller. I already have the setup using three GPIO lines providing load, data-in and clocking function. It looks like I will have to stay withcurrent implementation - this is a slow process and therefore from response side I should be fine. Again, thanks  for your ideas.
