Unable to connect F28335 using SDFlash Utility on Bootloader SCIA pin 28 and 29.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335

Hi,To all

here I am Trying to program my card using SCIA Boot loader using SD Flash Utility,

That i had done successfully in my experimenter's board F28335, but now i am working on my own hardware where i have used TQFP package of TMS320F28335 and 20MHz Oscillator on CLKIN pin and I had Grounded X1 also as per Ref. schematic.

if I see using CRO,  I am getting 3.27V and 1.79 V,  20MHz Frequecy is also available and at CLKOUT pin it shows 2.49MHz.

But when i m trying to Erase the Flash using SD-FLASH Utility after Keeping SCIA Boot mode on the strting of AD Flash it failed in connecting target.

That was not happening in experimenter's kit  Only differance in both card is BGA vs TQFP package, Crystal vs OSCILLATOR. other than that my circuit is quite similar.

So can anyone just look at this problem or if anyone had faced anything like that than let me know the solution please.

Thanks in advance

Chintan

  • Hello,

    I have exactly the same problem. Is there any solution or workaround yet?

    Is this problem related to the package (BGA) or revision of the f28335?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Maybe you need change and recompile API for flash because as default it i set for using (30 MHz / 2) * 10 frequence of chip.
    As i remember i saw note about this in one of Data Sheets about programming Flash in TMS320F28335.

    And for me is interesting what you sucessfully programmed TMS320F28335 trough RS-232 ?
    Also, which "test" board you used ?

  • hi chintan, i am using ezdsp28335 board. i am using sdflash for connecting the board via rs232. but i am unable to connect it. i have read the guide for flash programming via serial link. one reason given in the guideline was pulling the TX line of the DSP. i havent done this and want to know how to connect the dsp using rs232 link and program the flash.

    Pankaj,

    When I've had issues with SDFlash, reducing the baud rate usually helps.  There are some other options that I know of:

    • low-cost elprotronic FlashPro2000 flash programmer (programs via SCIA-BOOT mode - uses SCI RX, TX pins, a GND and possibly VDDIO pin)- http://www.elprotronic.com/flashpro2000.html  Note this tool includes both JTAG AND SCI programming options.

  • hello i ve been trying to progrogram my picollo with matlab2010a and CCS3.3, but it appears a error "unconfigures flash memory sections"..

    so i guees that it is associated with the bug with was found. i know how to program my dsp with just CCS mnaually, but when i tried to program

    the model generated from simulink in my dsp and CCS, i can not make it.. i tried something

    first, in the file (test_main.c) generated by simulink, after the libraries, i declare

    extern unsigned int  RamfuncsLoadStart;
    extern unsigned int  RamfuncsLoadEnd;
    extern unsigned int  RamfuncsRunStart;
    extern void InitFlash(void);

    second, after init_board() ; i wrote the following lines

      InitFlash();    // call InitFlash in RAM
      memcpy(&RamfuncsRunStart, &RamfuncsLoadStart, &RamfuncsLoadEnd - &RamfuncsLoadStart);

    when i build the program appears:

    error: errors encountered during linking

    >> Compilation failure

    Build Complete,
      1 Errors, 0 Warnings, 0 Remarks.

    could you tell me me what i ve made wrong or is there any aproach to program my dsp manually?

    regards,

    David
