F28XX On-Chip Flash Programmer Error Message

I'm trying to program a F28335 via the On-Chip Flash Programmer in Code Composer Studio version 3.3.38, with the spectrum digital C2000 XDS510LC.  When I attempt to select the On-Chip Flash Programmer, I get the following message:

Non-supported PartID: 0x00fa
Only F28xx (PartID 0x0001/2), F2801 (PartID 0x002C), F2806(PartID 0x0034), F2808 (PartID 0x003C), F2802(PartID 0x0024) devices are supported.  However, the partID register may not have been read properly due to the target state.

It is true that the part ID is 0xFA, I verifed this by looking at location 0x882.   Is there any way to program a F28335 via the On-Chip Flash Programmer?  I was able to do it when I was using the EZDSPF28335 as a target board (with the version of Code Composer Studio that came with it)

Thanks,

Eric

  • Eric,

It looks like you have an older version of the Flash Programmer. You will need to update to the latest Service Release in order to support the device.

  • Hi Tim,

How do I do that?  In CCS, I went to Help->Update Advisor->Check for Updates, but it didn't show any updates for CCS.  I was able to download the 5.1 C2000 Code Generation tools.

    Thanks,

    Eric

  • I was able to update CCS to 3.3.81.6, the error message has gone away.

    Thanks Tim!

  • I am having a similiar problem.  I currently have CCS 3.3.59.4 and am getting an identical error message.  When I use the help->update advisor->check for updates it reports that my installation is up to date (but clearly there 3.3.81.6 is a later version).  How can I upgrade to it?

    Thanks,

A way that I have found is to select the Install -> Chip Support Packages option.
Then, you will find a note on the right side of one of the Chip Support Packages (for instance the F2803x), a link to get access to a Service Release.  Select this link.

  • Hi, i have the Problem, too. I can´t Flash my 28035 and get the massage "Non Supported PartId 0x00FF" Supported devices: ... ... Please check that memory location 0x882 is readable in the memory map

I use the ccs 3.3.83.16 and have installed the chip support package but it dont works.

The memory at 0x882 is 0X00FF, how can i change that or how can i make the memory location readable ?

    Thanks Chris
